GPS position and speed that make sense afloat
Position is shown in degrees and decimal minutes, a format cruising sailors can relay easily. Speed is displayed in knots. TenderTo also accounts for the small GPS movements that can appear while a phone is sitting still, and it reserves the live speed display for an active trip.
Apple Maps with a NOAA chart layer
The map combines familiar land context with available NOAA chart information. That matters because a dinghy trip connects two worlds: the water you cross and the streets, docks, restaurants, and services you explore after landing.
A visible route back after dark
An active trip leaves a recorded track on the chart. On a nighttime return, the crew can follow that outward track in reverse instead of relying on an unfamiliar shoreline alone. The saved Home Vessel point and straight-line distance provide additional context as the tender heads back.
